Pillar Patient Advocates was proud to sponsor and attend the Sister 2 Sister Somerset Walk at Colonial Park, an event that brought the breast cancer community together for a beautiful stroll outside. As a local charity, Sister 2 Sister holds a special place in our hearts. We were honored to meet patients who are interested in or who have participated in our breast cancer market research studies and to see firsthand the impact this organization makes. Sister 2 Sister continues its mission to provide sanctuary, support, education, and advocacy for minority and underserved breast cancer survivors.

The 2024 Run+Walk 4 Life honored the memory of women who lost their battle with breast cancer while celebrating the strength of survivors and thrivers. The event secured an astonishing $54,000. A portion of that will support Sister 2 Sister’s Breast Cancer Assistance Program, which offers emergency services to women undergoing chemotherapy. These services are vital, ensuring that those who qualify receive much-needed help during their treatment journey.

In addition to raising funds, the event brought together sponsors from a variety of industries, all united for a common goal. We were pleased to share space with companies like Daiichi Sankyo, a leader in breast cancer treatments, Gilead Oncology, which focuses on innovative cancer therapies, and Bristol-Myers Squibb, a well-known and trusted name in the pharmaceutical world. Local support also came from Ferreira Construction, a New Jersey-based company known for sustainable construction projects across the U.S. This gathering of sponsors, survivors, and community members created a strong sense of unity and purpose, all for the benefit of breast cancer awareness and treatment. Prior to the walk, attendees did a guided warm up exercise set to some upbeat classic tunes such as Destiny’s Child’s “Survivor” and “Show Me Love” by Robin S.

One particularly touching initiative promoted at the event was “Light The House Pink,” where attendees were encouraged to purchase pink lightbulbs to illuminate breast cancer awareness in their homes and neighborhoods. Sister 2 Sister’s headquarters are located in a beautiful historic Somerset home, and in the month of October their porch glows pink, acting as a beacon of hope and a symbol of their dedication to creating a brighter future for breast cancer patients.

Being part of this event was a reminder of the importance of staying connected to the community, especially to organizations like Sister 2 Sister that work tirelessly to support women of color facing breast cancer. We are proud of our close relationship with this incredible group and look forward to continuing our partnership in the years to come.
